BOMF Launches in DC! Get Involved!

Back on My Feet, the nonprofit that uses running to promote the self-sufficiency of the homeless population in Philadelphia and Baltimore, kicked-off their annual two-week $100,000 Birthday Campaign on Friday, June 19th with the announcement of their third city – Washington, D.C. - via live webcast on cbs3.com.

In preparation for a March 2010 launch, Back on My Feet will continue to meet with city and local officials, perspective facilities, and community supporters in order to ensure the same successes in Washington, D.C. that have been seen by Philadelphia and Baltimore in the last two years.

“We are really looking forward to working with the Washington, D.C. community in an effort to help as many people as possible move their lives forward in a positive way,” says Anne Mahlum, Founder and President, Back on My Feet.

To date, Back on My Feet has more than 170 members in its program and has yielded incredible results in the past 24 months, which include the following:

  • 10 teams in Philadelphia and Baltimore

  • 600+ Volunteers

  • 101 members have completed a competitive race

  • 15 members have completed a half-marathon

  • 5 members have completed a full-marathon

  • 31 members have obtained housing

  • 44 members have secured jobs

  • 29 members have enrolled in job training programs or schooling

  • 65 members have attended one of three financial literacy classes hosted by Beneficial Bank
